REVISION OF POST-MATRIC AND PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT FOR SCHEDULED CASTES STUDENTS
Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students (PMS-SC) and Pre-Matric Scholarship Schemes for Scheduled Castes & Others are open-ended schemes

As per the latest UDISE 2021-22 report published by the Department of School Education and Literacy, the dropout rate of Scheduled Castes students at various levels of school education compared to the average rate of dropout is provided at Annexure.
Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students (PMS-SC) and Pre-Matric Scholarship Schemes for Scheduled Castes & Others are open-ended schemes wherein the eligible applicants as per the scheme guidelines and which have been finally verified by the States/UTs are provided the scholarship. Upto 2020-21 in PMS-SC and 2021-22 in Pre-Matric SC Scheme, Central assistance was released to the States/UTs wherein, State Governments/UTs being the implementing agency verified the applications as per the eligibility criteria and disbursed the complete scholarship amount. The number of beneficiaries awarded scholarship, as reported by the State Governments for the years 2020-21 under PMS-SC and 2020-21 & 2021-22 under Pre-Matric Scheme is attached as Annexure. From 2021-22 under PMS-SC Scheme and 2022-23 in Pre-Matric SC Scheme, Central assistance is being released directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT after the State share is paid to the verified beneficiaries and the verified data is sent to the Central Portal. The details of number of beneficiaries awarded the scholarship during these years are attached at Annexure.
The rates of scholarship have been recently revised under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students in FY 2020-21 and under Pre-Matric Scholarships Scheme for SC & Others in FY 2021-22.
