MORE THAN 9.45 CRORE PEOPLE REACHED OUT; SENSITIZATION IN 3.12 LAKH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTES CARRIED OUT

The Ministry has launched Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) in 372 identified districts across the Country including Rajasthan. A list of these 372 identified district is attached at Annexure-1.

The details of the outcome of this campaign in various districts of Rajasthan including Nagaur and other States of the country is at Annexure-2.

Government has been running de-addiction programme in identified districts of across the Country including Rajasthan, so that the youth, women and other persons could be protected from drug addiction. The details is attached at Annexure-3.

ANNEXURE-2

Details of the outcome of this campaign in various districts of Rajasthan including Nagaur and other States of the country is as under:

The aim of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) is to create awareness about ill effects of substance abuse among the youth, with special focus on higher education institutes, university campuses, schools and reaching out into the community and garnering community involvement and ownership of the Abhiyaan.

Till now through the various activities undertaken on-ground 9.45+ Crore people reached out so far. More than 3.08 Crore youths have actively participated in the activities of the Abhiyaan and spreading on-ground the message against substance use. Around 4,000+ Yuva Mandals, NYKS & NSS Volunteers, Youth Clubs have also been associated with the Abhiyaan. The contribution of more than 2.03 Crore women have also been vital in reaching out to a larger community through the Anganwadi & ASHA Workers, ANMs, Mahila Mandals & Women SHG. Students, teachers and parents in more than 3.12 Lakh Educational institutions have been sensitised on drugs through a variety of activities.

Under NMBA, 6955 people including 4015 youth, 2003 women and 7 educational institutes have been covered in the Rajasthan including Nagaur.

ANNEXURE-3

Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment is implementing a scheme of National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) under which financial assistance is provided to (i) 'State Governments/ Union Territory (UT) Administrations for Preventive Education and Awareness Generation, Capacity Building, Skill development, vocational training and livelihood support of ex-drug addicts, Programmes for Drug Demand Reduction by States/UTs etc. and (ii) 'NGOs/VOs for running and maintenance of Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (lRCAs), Community based peer Led intervention (CPLI) for early Drug Use Prevention among Adolescents and Outreach and Drop In Centres (ODIC) and (iii) Addiction treatment facilities (ATFs) in Government Hospitals'.

Under scheme of NAPDDR, Ministry supports 538 NGOs/ VOs for treating the drug victims, awareness generation and life skill activities, preventive education, motivational counselling,  after care and re-integration into the social mainstream etc. Out of 538 centre, there are 29 Centres are being financially supported by the Ministry in the State of Rajasthan.

A Toll-free Helpline for de-addiction, 14446 is being maintained by the Ministry for providing primary counseling and immediate referral services to the persons seeking help through this helpline.

The Ministry has developed Navchetna Modules teacher training modules with the aim to increase awareness and education on life skills and drugs among students in schools in India. TheMinistry has set a target to generate awareness among 10 lakh Teachers and 2.4 crore Students  through Navchetna Modules in a year.

Further, Ministry has planned to establish District De-Addiction Centres (DDACs) in all gap districts across the country, where there is no facility of IRCA/CPLI/ODIC.
