“Most of the time the relationship between a mother and a child is highlighted and that between the father and offspring is neglected. Despite fathers contributing immensely to the family, their contribution often goes unnoticed” said ‘Dharmaveer: Mukkam Post Thane’ Producer Mangesh Desai, alluding to Shiv Sena Leader Anand Dighe's contributions to Maharashtra, while interacting with film and media delegates at the ‘Table Talks’ session organised by PIB at the 53rd International Film Festival of India in Goa.

Speaking about his film ‘Dharmaveer: Mukkam Post Thane’ Mangesh Desai informed that for Maharashtrians, there are two overarching father figures, Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe. He described his making of the film as the fulfillment of a dream he has harboured since 2013. For a debutant producer, making a film on such a towering leader who is admired as a demi god is both a challenge and a responsibility, added Mangesh Desai.

On the immense success the film received at the Box Office Mangesh Desai said “I strongly felt that a film about a person who could bind people and take people along with him will surely be appreciated by the audience.” He also praised director and writer Pravin Tarde for the immense passion with which he worked for the film. Talking of the lead actor Prasad Oak, he declared that it was inconceivable to make the film without him.  Mangesh Desai also shared that he has been overwhelmed by the love the film has got from people and that there have been multiple demands for re-releases. 

Lead actor Prasad Oak shared his joy in being able to portray such a legendary figure whose photographs adorn the walls of many a Maharashtrian home. He also adds that it was a challenging task for him as an actor.

‘Dharmaveer: Mukkam Post Thane’ is being showcased at IFFI 53 under the Indian Panorama section. The Marathi film is a biopic on late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe.
