At present, all the IIHTs are conducting 3 year diploma (DHTT) course. IIHTs at Salem and Varanasi also conduct 1 ½ year Post Diploma course in Textile Processing. Skill up-gradation of handloom weavers in technical areas viz. weaving, dyeing, designing etc. was earlier conducted under National Handloom Development Programme and Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development Scheme and since 2020-21, under Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (SAMARTH). For marketing of Handloom at the international level, Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) has been organizing International Fairs.
