COVID-19 Update

India administered more than 1.13 Cr vaccine doses in last 24 hours

Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 70 Cr

Recovery Rate currently at 97.48%

31,222 New Cases reported in the last 24 hours

India's Active Caseload (3,92,864) is 1.19% of Total Cases

Weekly Positivity Rate (2.56%) less than 3% for last 74 days

In a landmark achievement to India’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts, more than 1.13 Crore COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered yesterday. This feat has been achieved thrice in last 11 days.With the administration of 1,13,53,571vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the cumulative figure of 69.90Cr (69,90,62,776) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 72,26,439sessions. By the afternoon, the COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the cumulative figure of 70 Crore.

The break-up of the cumulative figureas per the provisional report till 7 am today include:

The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country.

The recovery of42,942 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,22,24,937.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.48%.

Sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs continue the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 72 consecutive days now.

31,222 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently3,92,864. Active cases presently constitute 1.19% of the country's total Positive Cases.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 15,26,056tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 53.31 Cr (53,31,89,348) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.56% remains less than 3% for the last 74 days now. The Daily Positivity rate dips to2.05%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below3% for last 8 days and below 5% for 92 consecutive days now.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs

More than 69.51 Crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

More than 5.31 Crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses still available with States/UTs with nearly 78 Lakh doses in Pipeline

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.

More than 69.51 crore (69,51,79,965) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Further, nearly 78 Lakh doses (77,93,360) are in the pipeline.

More than 5.31 Cr (5,31,15,610) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

The Vice President, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu today said the   COVID-19 vaccination campaign should become a people’s movement and appealed to every eligible person to take the required doses without any fear or hesitation.

Launching a free vaccination program organized by Swarna Bharat Trust in Hyderabad in collaboration with Bharat Biotech International Ltd and MediCiti Hospitals, Shri Naidu said there was no alternative to taking the vaccine.

Calling for countering the misinformation on vaccines, he urged the people’s representatives, film and sports celebrities to take the lead in dispelling myths and fears on COVID-19 vaccination.

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. BharatiPravinPawar represented India at the World Health Organization- South East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO) through video-conference today. She offered intervention on behalf of India at the Ministerial Roundtable for the Seventy-fourth Session of the WHO Regional Committee, for South-East Asia.

Acknowledging that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected virtually every sphere of life affecting lives and livelihoods alike apart from causing huge loss of lives, she said, “Guided by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, country adopted a proactive, pre-emptive, whole of Government, whole of society and people-centric approach to manage the pandemic. Our preparedness and response strategies utilized our past experiences of managing public health emergencies and contemporary scientific knowledge about evolving nature of disease to decide requisite public health interventions. India’s strategy for fighting the pandemic is built on five pillars – Test, Track, Treat, Vaccinate and adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour. With a decentralized but unified, whole of government approach, we focused on rapidly creating COVID dedicated infrastructure and upskilling our healthcare workforce.”

KVIC Rehabilitates Nine Covid-Affected Women in Goa with Self-Employment

In a unique initiative that will have far-reaching benefits, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has paved the way for sustainable self-employment for nine women in Goa who were under acute distress due to loss of their loved ones due to Covid-19 pandemic. Amid grief, despair and livelihood crisis, KVIC has provided these women, who lost the bread-winners for their families, with financial assistance to set up their own manufacturing units under its flagship scheme Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP). This is for the first time in the country that a government agency is creating livelihood support for the vulnerable people affected by the pandemic.
