Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to kick off on 13th August

Historic places of Maharashtra associated with freedom movement chosen for the freedom run

Programmes will be held in 75 districts till October 2nd covering 744 districts

Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 will kick off on August 13th as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.  Conceptualized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, each week programmes will be held in 75 districts and at 75 villages in each district till 2nd October 2021.  A total of 744 districts will be covered over one and a half months.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Thakur will launch the Nationwide programme, in which organizations like Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Railways,  Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Security Guards,  Nehru Yuva Kendras would also join virtually from iconic locations across the country.

Fit India Freedom Run in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, the Fit India Freedom Run will be held from such historical locations like the August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, the Aga Khan Palace in Pune, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s birthplace in Ratnagiri,  Sevagram Ashram in Wardha, Sitabuldi Fort in Nagpur, as well as at Akola, Gondia and Chandrapur.  Similar Freedom Run will be held in Ahmednagar and Amravati on 14th August 2021. Other districts of Maharashtra will be covered during subsequent weeks upto 2nd October 2021.  In these The key activities of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 include pledge, rendering of National Anthem, Freedom Run, cultural functions at venues, awareness among Youth Volunteers to participate and also organize similar Freedom Runs in their villages. These runs will be organized by the NYKS, State Offices, Maharashtra – Goa State, Mumbai and its associated Nehru Yuva Kendras located at District places.

Fitness ki Dose,  Aaadha Ghanta Roz

In his message, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport has urged people to resolve for a fit and healthy India because only a fit and healthy India can be a strong India. The Minister  has also appealed everyone to take part in the nationwide fit India Freedom Run 2.0 and make it people’s movement.

The aim of this nationwide initiative is to encourage people to take up fitness activities such as running and sports in their daily lives and get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc. Through this campaign, citizens will be given call to make a resolve to include physical activity of at least 30 minutes daily in their lives “FITNESS KI DOSE, AADHA GHANTA ROZ”.

The key activities of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 include pledge, rendering of National Anthem, Freedom Run, cultural functions at venues, awareness among Youth Volunteers to participate and also organize similar Freedom Runs in their villages.

Prominent people, Public Representatives, Panchayat leaders, social workers, sports persons, media personalities, doctors, farmers and Army personnel are being requested to participate, encourage and motivate the people by gracing these events at various levels.

People are encouraged to register and upload their run on Fit India portal https://fitindia.gov.in and promote freedom run on their social media channels with #Run4India and #AzadikaAmritMahotsav hashtags.
