The focused interventions for Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA:CTR) campaign,  which primarily deals with supply side management, includes water conservation & rainwater harvesting; renovation of traditional and other water bodies/ tanks; watershed development; intensive afforestation and awareness generation.   As a part of the campaign, KrishiVigyanKendras (KVKs) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) are also conducting activities like training programs, distribution of seed packets and saplings, awareness programs for farmers.The details of awareness generation programs/ KVK melas State-wise is available  at Annexure-I and for Rajasthan district-wise is available at Annexure-II.  

 

                 Government has been implementing various measures from time to time for water conservation sensitisation at district and state level with critical and over-exploited levels of groundwater through mass awareness programmes (Trainings, Seminars, Workshops, Exhibitions,Trade Fares and Painting Competitions etc.)  under the information, Education & Communication (IEC) Scheme of DoWR, RD & GR in various parts of the Country.   Public Interaction Programs are being organised at grass root level for disseminating the tenets under National Aquifer Mapping and Management (NAQUIM) Programme for the benefit  of  the  stakeholders including farmers.  So far, 745 such Programs have been conducted in different

 

                 parts of the country including over exploited and Critical ground water areas in which nearly 64,000 people including farmers have been sensitized on various aspects of water conservation and ground water management.  In addition, Ministry of Jal Shakti implemented "Jal Shakti Abhiyan" in 2019 in 1592 blocks of 256 water-stressed districts of the country under which awareness generation activities on water conservation were undertaken.   "SahiFasal" campaign, launched by Ministry of Jal Shakti focusing on critical and over-exploited areas was a demand side intervention,  to nudge farmers in the water stressed areas to grow crops which are not water intensive, but use water very efficiently; and are economically remunerative; healthy and nutritious; environmentally friendly and suited to the agro-climatic-hydro characteristics of the area.   Under this campaign, workshops were organised in Amritsar, Aurangabad and Kurukshetra in which large number of farmers participated.   AtalBhujalYojana (ABHY), a Rs.6000 crore scheme with World Bank funding, for sustainable management of ground water with community participation is being taken up in the identified over-exploited and water stressed areas fall in the States of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

 

                 The details of progress of works of water conservation and rainwater harvesting structures completed under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign upto 02.08.2021 state-wise, as uploaded on JSA:CTR Portal (jsactr:mowr.gov.in) by the stakeholder Central Ministries/Departments in respect of their Key Performance Indicators, is available at  Annexure-III and district-wise details of Rajasthan is available at Annexure-IV. State Governments have also been request to upload the information regarding works undertaken by them with state and local funds under JSA:CTR campaign.

 

 This information was given by the Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Food Processing Industries, ShriPrahlad Singh Patel in a written reply in the LokSabha today.
