Air Marshal PP Rajkumar to take over as C-in-C of Andaman Nicober command tomorrow
Air Marshal Packiam Paul Rajkumar AVSM would be taking over as Commander-in-Chief of Andaman Nicober Command on 02 Dec 06. Air Mshl PP Rajkumar would be taking over the charge from Vice Admiral AK Singh.

Air Marshal PP Rajkumar is a graduate of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, in December 1967 and was commissioned in the Flying Branch of IAF in June 1969. He has flown extensively all over India on 12 different types of aircraft. He has a total of 6500 hours of flying to his credit. He is a qualified instructor and had been a Pilot Examiner for the Indian Air Force. He had been on deputation to the Government of Iraq from 1987 to 1989 to train their pilots.

He commanded a Mi-8 Helicopter Unit, as a part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka in 1989-90. He has commanded the Helicopter Training School, which is the main Institution for training Army and Air Force helicopter pilots. He has also commanded Air Force Station Vadodara, which is an important Air Force base in Gujarat. As an Air Marshal, he had been the commandant of National Defence College, which is an internationally renowned institution for training senior officers on National Security.

He has held important staff appointments like Joint Director of Systems Evaluation at Air HQ which dealt with problem solving of Air Force issues at the Macro level; Command Flying Training Officer at Training Command which dealt with training of all pilots and other aircrew; Director of Operations (Transport & Helicopters) co-ordinating all Transport and Helicopter operations of the Air Force; Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operational Concepts and Doctrine) at Air HQ dealing with Air Force Doctrine, International relations, Inter Service Cooperation, Air Traffic Services, Public Relations etc, Deputy Commandant of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune where officer cadets are trained for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Combat, Mhow, College of Defence Management, Secunerabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. He holds a M Sc. Degree in Defence Studies and M Phil in Defence and Managements Studies. He is a member of the Aeronautical Society of India and Rotary Wing Society of India. He was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in 2003.
