No Immediate Danger to the Country Because of Tsunami: Ashwani Kumar
The Government today assured the people not to panic on account of Tsunami in Eastern Japan. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, the Minister of State for Earth Sciences and Science & Technology, Shri Ashwani Kumar said, “The threat of Tsunami does not exist in the Indian Ocean. The Government is in constant touch with the Hyderabad based Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) for the latest information on the after effects of the Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan. INCOIS is monitoring the tidal currents. It will also monitor sea-level changes near epicentre region.”
Shri Ashwani Kumar reassured the nation that there is no immediate danger because of Tsunami. Replying to questions the Minister said, the Government had taken several measures in the aftermath of the Tsunami in 2004.
