Minister
of Culture and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has said
that the Archaeological Survey of India has received the proposal from Kanpur
Development Authority, Government of Uttar Pradesh for conservation of state
protected monuments namely Shivaji Mahal, Tikait Rai
Mahal Complex & Shri Krishna Tikroo
ki Baradari, Bithoor, Kanpur for which an amount of Rs.1,59,07,600/- has been provided to Archaeological Survey of
India as deposit work.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today she said, the Archaeological Survey of India has not provided any
funds to the Governemnt of Uttar Pradesh. However, an
amount of Rs.1645.00 lakhs has been allocated for the conservation of centrally
protected monuments in Uttar Pradesh during the current financial year
2010-11.
The details of the funds allocated for the last two
years are as under:-

She said, the conservation of centrally protected temples and
historical sites in Uttar Pradesh is a continuous process. The
conservation/restoration at the protected works are
taken up regularly on need basis depending upon the availability of resources.
