Central Community Polytechnic Scheme
The revised Scheme of Community Development Through polytechnics has been started during the Eleventh Five Year Plan to impart skill training to rural youth, women, school drop outs, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other weaker sections of the society and under privileged groups of the society. The scheme is 1005 centrally funded and it is implemented through existing All India Council fro technical Education (AICTE) approved polytechnics. So far 703 existing polytechnics have been selected for implementation of the scheme. Out of 703 polytechnics, 532 polytechnics have already been provided financial assistance during the last two years and the remaining 171 polytechnics have been accorded administrative sanction to implement the scheme.

This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Smt. D. Purandeswari in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
