India and Romania Discuss Increasing Corporation in Oil Sector
The Romania delegation led by Mr. Karoly Borbely, Minister of State from the Ministry of Economic and Commerce and Business Environment met Shri Jitin Prasada, MOS (P&NG) recently in Delhi. Shri Sudhir Bhargava, Additional Secretary (P&NG) and Shri R>S. Sharma, Chairman, ONGC were also present in the meeting. The Ministers discussed matters of mutual interest in the hydrocarbon sector. They also recalled the long standing relations between India and Romania in the oil and gas sector, including the first rig acquired from Romania in March, 1956 and the first PSU oil refinery set up by Romania in 1962 at Guhawati. Both Ministers acknowledged the importance of bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector especially in the supply of equipments for exploration and gas pipelines projects etc. the visiting dignitary mentioned that 10 companies from Romania specialized in drilling are interested in meeting Indian companies to explore business opportunities in India.

The discussion also covered bilateral cooperation in Renewable Energy and construction of Gas pipelines etc. it was decided that the Joint Working Group between India & Romania should meet early ahead of the Joint Commission Meeting scheduled to be held during next year.
