Shortage of Funds for Zoos
‘30’

 

The zoos in the country are being run by the respective State Governments. The Central Zoo Authority provides some financial assistance to States with a view to improving the upkeep of animals, including housing, veterinary and other  infrastructure facilities.  During the 11th Five Year Plan, the Central Zoo Authority has provided a financial assistance  of Rs. 48.39 crores (as on 12.11.2010) to the zoos located in 24 States . Rs. 6.57 crores wetre given to the State of Andhra Pradesh.

 

State-wise details of the financial assistance provided during the 11th Five Year Plan for the purpose are given in the  Annexure.
