New Railway Projects
During the last three years, 771 kilometres of new railway lines, 3628 kilometres of gauge conversions, 1237 kilometres of doublings and 2416 route kilometres of electrification have been completed on the entire Indian Railways. An expenditure of Rs.27, 269 crore has been incurred on all new line, gauge conversion, doubling and electrification projects during the last three years.

During 2010-11, eleven new line projects have been sanctioned. These new lines will be programmed as per the availability of resources.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
